Wikia DARP - Mark Faltz's house

Mark's home

This is his little place in the village.

Mark is a definite homebody, with a distinct resemblance to a hobbit in how he designed and furnishes his home. He draws a thick black line between his work and home life, leaving all his legal tomes in the office.

Mark has never shared his home, and the lack of "a woman's touch" is, perhaps, evident throughout. People frequently rap on the door here, but relatively few are invited in. As a general rule, Mark takes folks who need to talk to him to "The Three Broomsticks". The pub also doubles as his kitchen, certainly on work nights when he can't find the energy to cater for himself. Mark frequently slips in the back door there, grabs the meal he ordered ahead, and leaves the coins on the kitchen table. He's a generous tipper, and brings in lots of trade, so it works out for everyone.

There is, very deliberately, nothing to identify this place to the casual viewer as the home of a lawyer, and an extremely successful and affluent one. Although he still does a fair amount of Muggle law practice, Mark is careful to cultivate the reputation of travelling everywhere by train and taxi. At the rare non-magical dinner party he attends, he plays the part of the eco-warrior, with a blind spot vis-a-vis taxis. When called upon to arbitrate for the village, he tends to "hold court" in the Broomsticks, so that there is real transparency, and no need to engage the service of the village crier afterwards, as everyone was already there.

Mark is just a little concerned by the security implications of his being away for so long in London, trying to tie up all the loose ends there, and has purchased a special magical (minimal aura) lock, to secure the lockbox with his most prized papers and possessions in it. He really misses the village during his time "down South", and often Apparates back on the flimsiest of pretexts. He has, in point of fact, been known on occasion to make the commute internationally, simply to sleep in his own bed.
